The channel of St. Anthony, connects Sibenik to the open sea. At the entrance to the channel is the impressive renaissance fortress of St. Nicholas. From one side of town, you will see the sea, bay and islands and on the other side, five rivers, thirteen lakes, and eight waterfalls. All this makes Šibenik incredible.

Sailing conditions are excellent and navigation straightforward. Mild winds, sunny weather and minimal strong currents and tides virtually guarantee a great sailing holiday. The prevailing winds are the friendly Maestral from the North West, the Bora from the North East, and Sirocco and Jugo winds from the South/South East. Care should be taken with the Bora as it can be gusty and sudden. Some of the best Mediterranean sailing there is.
