Dalmatia

The Dalmatian coastline is a pristine location for boat rentals and sailing trips or holidays.

Northern Dalmatia, extending from the island of Pag to the town of Primosten, is vibrant and diverse with rough mountainous regions, pretty islands and two UNSECO world Heritage Sites. Located between the mountains and the sea, Dalmatia has long, hot summers and short, mild winters.

With some of the most stunning coastline in Croatia, there are about 500 islands in the archipelagos of Zadar and Sibenik. The fascinating landscape of the Velebit mountain, Ravni Kotari, Krka river and the crystal clear sea, are in perfect harmony here. It is a great combination of limestone cliffs, fertile valleys and pine forests. There are three national parks showcasing Dalmatian beauty: Paklenica , Kornati and Krka River. Two nature parks are also to be found here:  Telascica and Vrana lake.

In the heart of Northern Dalmatia is the historical, archaeological and culturally rich city of Zadar. One of the larger cities in the region is Sibenik with its magnificent medieval centre.

Dalmatia equals true sailing pleasure and it is a well-known yacht charter centre in Croatia.

Dalmatia is a world-famous nautical region with an excellent coastline for yacht charters and sailing holidays.

There are plenty of charter companies that offer boats for charter in Dalmatia and over 70 marinas, ports and harbours. It is extremely attractive to boaters, due to its natural beauty and small distances between the mainland and the islands. From Zadar or Sukosan one can explore the Zadar archipelago consisting of thousands of islands and islets offering some of the best sailing in the Mediterranean.

Weather conditions in Dalmatia are ideal for boating and one of the reasons boaters prefer this region for yacht charters in Croatia.

The Maestral blows every day in the summer, filling the sails of novices and experienced sailors alike. On a sailing holiday in Dalmatia, you could sail around the Kornati islands, Dugi Otok, Pasman, Zut, Ugljan, Zirje and the Murter islands. Molat, Ist, Premuda, Olib and Silba are charming islands in the northern part. If you like parties, you should set sail to Pag Island where Zrce Bay has become known as the Croatian Ibiza.

Without a doubt, Dalmatia is great place for sailing on the Adriatic.

While on a yacht charter in Dalmatia, there are many highly recommended islands and towns to visit.

Pag Island is unique because of the long dry stone walls and sparse vegetation. With cottage industries in cheese made of sheep milk and lace, finding memorable souvenirs is easy.

Zadar is simply breathtaking. The old town is enclosed by stone walls, and located on a small peninsula. Zadar is full of historical sites. The Church of St. Donat's is the most famous building and symbol of the city. The Roman Forum, Kalelarga street and the Renaissance Cathedral Anastasia, should definitely be mentioned. In recent years, the Sea Organ and Greeting to the Sun has become a special attraction.

There are two royal cities in this area: the  city of Nin and the city of Biograd na Moru.

Murter is an island with wonderful beaches. The “Jezerski dani mora" or days of the sea festival is an annual festival featuring music and folklore held here, ending with the as Big Game Fishing Contest. All this can be enjoyed during your charter holiday in Dalmatia, Croatia.

Sibenik is home to the notable Renaissance church of St. Traditional events like donkey races, as well as numerous summer festivals are held in many places in this area. An integral part of the Dalmatian soul are Dalmatian "Klapa" (group of friends), form of traditional a cappella singing. The main elements of the music are harmony and melody, observing original musical expression unique to this area. In 2012 klapa was added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Dalmatian cuisine is special in its simplicity which savours natural flavors of the Mediterranean.

Cooking is mainly based on fresh fish prepared in various ways, such as salted fish, marinated fish, brudet, and barbecue-grilled fish . The art of good eating while on a yacht charter in Dalmatia will complete the Dalmatian vacation experience.

Oysters and clams in "Buzara" (sautéed in garlic, olive oil, parsley & white wine) are not to be missed. Another Dalmatian delicacy is lamb cooked in embers under an iron bell.

There are various types of cheese and Dalmatian ham suitable for appetizers.

Those with a sweet tooth can try "Skradinska torta" almond cookies, dried figs or fresh fruit.

Well-known domestic wines are Babić, Plavina, Merlot, Debit, Pošip and Dingac.

All these specialties wait to delight your senses during a yacht rental in Croatia.
