After a whole series of years of successive price increases, our data shows that the average weekly price of renting a boat in Croatia has fallen by approximately 5%. Such statistics are based on approximately 4,000 vessels for rent in our database in Croatia, which is a very large sample that gives a fairly accurate insight into the real situation. Otherwise, prices grew by about 10 percent on an annual basis, which is otherwise normal and "relatively" acceptable due to the usual increase in the cost of living and regular inflation. The only exception to growth is the year of COVID, which is understandable.
The reason for the decrease in boat rental prices
But lately inflation has been higher than usual, and charter prices have fallen. What is the reason for that? One of the reasons is certainly the increase in available boats for rent, which every year increases the competition of boats in Croatia. Many charter companies are also dealers of boat manufacturers, so it is in their interest to make profit in the form of commissions by selling boats. At the same time, these same vessels are added to their charter fleets, thereby increasing the offer of vessels and competition, and as a result, they have a decrease in rental prices.
Decrease in the number of guests on charter boats
Of course, such an increase in charter boats does not have a good effect on the situation on the ground either, because the large number of boats and yachts causes congestion in marinas and anchorage bays, thus spoiling the vacation experience for guests in Croatia. It seems to us that the guests have noticed this a long time ago, because the percentage of charter bookings is also falling.
Pulsation of the market
However, such pulsation of the market is common, so supply and demand stabilize over time. And now is a good time to spend the summer on a boat in Croatia, because it looks like there won't be a big crowd, and the discounts reach up to 40-50%.
