During the 2012. Tomas Nautica has done a research about sailors consumption and their satisfaction while sailing in Croatia. The study was conducted on 2171 respondents. Respondents are divided into two categories: those that sails on a chartered boat and those who come to Croatia with their own vessels. Respondents are sailors from 14 countries (Croatia, Austria, Slovenia, Hungary, Great Britain, Czech Republic, France, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, the Netherlands.) Most sailors are aged 30-49 years (56%), followed by those older than 50 years (33%), and boaters under the age of 29 (12%).
Boaters are in average 45 years old. More than a quarter of boaters have completed college or a university degree (77%) and every other sailor comes from a households with a monthly income above 3,500.- EUR. Foreign sailors are loyal to Croatia, three quarters of them have boats in Croatia and in the 2012. year only 12% of boaters visited Croatia for the first time. The main source of information is the previous experience (46%), internet (29%) and the recommendations of friends and relatives (24%). Importance of the Internet is growing, from 25% in year 2007. to 29% in year 2012. Boaters are usually arriving by car (69%) and by airplane (14%). In Croatian charter were 49% of boaters, 42% of sailors sailed on boats in personal property, 6% of the vessels were owned by friends / relatives, less than 3% of vessels were in foreign charter.
