We’ve been advising sailing families and crewed-party groups for many years, and the Fountaine Pajot Astréa 42 is one of those catamarans that simply feels “ready for charter” the moment you step aboard. Based on our experience, this 2023-built sailing catamaran works especially well for guests who want comfort, easy living, and a smooth cruising rhythm around the British Virgin Islands.

This model is a five-cabin layout, with accommodation for 8 berths in cabins plus 1 additional sleeping place. In Road Town, British Virgin Islands, you get a practical starting point for day routes and longer passages—actually, we’ve noticed many guests choose this area because it makes planning effortless. The overall size matters too: at 12.58 m length and 7.2 m beam, the Astréa 42 offers a spacious feel for its class. For onboard convenience, there are 4 toilets.

We think the onboard setup is tailored to real rental use. Guests will appreciate the air-conditioning for calmer nights, the electric anchor windlass and electric winches for confident handling, and the cockpit shower for saltwater days. Navigation and comfort are well balanced: GPS plotter and autopilot help keep the ride steady, while the cockpit fridge and freezer support longer stays without rushing back to shore. There’s also a Fusion radio and TV for relaxed evenings—perfect after a beach stop!

For meal time, we recommend using the built-in stove and the grill (barbecue). Dinghy handling is also covered: a dinghy is provided with an outboard engine, plus davits for practical stowage. With inverter power and a generator onboard, day-to-day comfort stays consistent. It’s a modern, charter-friendly catamaran—clean lines, smart systems, and that “let’s go!” feeling!
