Marina/Port Location and Cruising Area

We’ve advised many guests who choose Cleopatra Marina in Preveza, on Greece’s Ionian coast, and we can say with confidence that it’s a practical base for a one-day outing or a full week on the water. Cleopatra Marina is located in Preveza (Epirus region), a port town that sits close to the entrance to the Ambracian Gulf. From our experience, this matters because it gives you easy access to sheltered waters for relaxed cruising, and also quick routes toward the open Ionian Sea when the weather is right.

Actually, Preveza itself is a comfortable start point: you can find services for provisioning and day-to-day needs before departure. We have noticed that visitors who rent a boat for short trips often mix a morning departure with time near the coastline, then return before sunset to enjoy the town atmosphere. For longer itineraries, guests who have trusted us usually plan around the natural coastline and the chain of islands in the Ionian.

Regarding how to reach the area, our guests typically fly into Aktion National Airport, which is the closest major airport serving Preveza. From the airport, transfers are straightforward by road into Preveza. For travelers coming from elsewhere in Greece, road connections also work well, since Preveza is linked to the wider highway network along the western mainland.

If you’re thinking about land connections beyond flying, we recommend checking local ferry schedules in advance, because routes and timetables can change seasonally. Still, the port location helps for day logistics.

On-water, we have seen that a week from Preveza often includes stops around the Ionian shoreline and nearby islands. Many guests aim for the islands and coves you can reach within a cruising day, and some also plan a visit toward the Ammbracian Gulf area for a quieter experience. Coastal viewpoints and beaches along the Epirus coast are also popular in short “in-and-out” plans—grab a swim, take a slow look, and keep moving!

From our knowledge, Preveza is well placed for anyone who wants Ionian scenery without making every plan complicated. We advise you to discuss your intended route with the marina team before departure—conditions and timing are everything!
