We’ve sailed the Adriatic with many guests over the years, and Punat on Croatia’s Krk island keeps surprising us. If you’re looking for an easygoing sailing week with comfort and smart handling, the Bavaria 39 Cruiser (built 2005) is a very solid choice. We recommend it especially for couples, small families, and anyone who wants a charter experience that feels relaxed from day one.
This 11.97 m sailboat is designed for practical cruising. It offers 3 cabins with 6 berths in cabins, plus an extra sleeping option for additional flexibility—handy when friends join for a long weekend. Two toilets make mornings smoother, even when the marina is busy.
From our experience, what matters most on a charter is confidence at the helm and calm evenings on the water. The boat is equipped with an autopilot, a GPS plotter, and a VHF radio, so navigation feels steady in changing coastal conditions. The bow thruster is a welcome helper during tight manœuvres in Punat’s harbor. Want sun protection? The bimini top and sprayhood make a real difference when the day turns bright—right away.
For sail performance, the main sail was updated in 2025 and the genoa in 2024. That means better shape and more predictable power when you decide to chase a quiet cove!
We also observed that guests appreciate the onboard air conditioning when evenings stay warm, plus the practical comforts like a cockpit shower and a refrigerator for simple meals.
