The small fishing village of Jezera on Murter’s southeastern coast is a charming place to pick up a boat charter for sailing in the Sibenik region. Lots of little coves line the coastline here and the area here is well known for sailing, as there is almost always wind. Jezera is the oldest settlement on the island and is home to the ACI Jezera Marina, part of the ACI chain of marinas in Croatia. This well-sheltered, eco-friendly marina is great for a stopover or to use as a base while sailing around Murter Island and further afield. Kornati Islands are about 10NM away and the Sibenik Archipelago is easily accessible from here.
Many festivities take place here during the summer months, a welcome complement to active sailing days. Jezera still has an active fishing fleet and a good restaurant scene where you can try the local delicacies.
Sports enthusiasts can play football, tennis, bowling and volleyball. There are also watersports, such as diving, and some good cycling paths cross the island.
Jezera is located near Tisno where there is a draw bridge across to the mainland and it is close to the coastal road and highway. Jezera is situated 28 km from Šibenik, 55 km from Zadar and 110 km from 90 km from Split airport. There is a bus line from Zadar to Tisno.
Sailing conditions from Jezera are ideal. Winds among the islands are mostly moderate during the summer months and predominantly from NW. There is always the possibility to find protected bays and safe anchorages. It is supreme sailing area, well worth a week or more charter trip.
