From our experience, the Dufour 382 GL is a very sensible choice for guests who want a comfortable sailing boat for a charter holiday based in Messina. We have noticed that the mix of manageable size and real onboard living space works especially well for parties that plan day sails and longer evenings in port. This sailboat was built in 2018, and it shows in the way the systems are laid out and how easily the crew can work around the cockpit.

The layout is designed for practical cruising: there are 3 cabins with berths for 6 people in total, plus 2 additional berths. Actually, that extra flexibility is what many of our clients value when friends join last minute. The boat measures 11.25 m in length with a 3.85 m beam, giving a stable feel under sail and at anchor. We also state with certainty that the interior remains usable and tidy thanks to the 2 toilets.

When our guests step on board in Messina, the navigation and comfort details stand out. We recommend paying attention to the GPS chart plotter in the cockpit, because it makes coastal navigation in the Strait of Messina much calmer. There is also shore power with a 220 V connection and a socket at the chart table, so you can keep things running when you’re tied alongside. For sailing control, the electronic anchor windlass is convenient, while the full-batten mainsail with lazy jacks and the roller genoa simplify sail handling. The bimini top and sprayhood add welcome protection—sun, spray, and sudden gusts don’t get the last word.

For onboard practicality, we have seen the black water tank and the wind/speed/depth instruments help you plan responsibly. The cockpit teak finish feels great after a swim, and the tender is ready for quick transfers. “Smooth and easy” is the phrase we hear most after our guests take the first tack!
