Vodice is a pretty Dalmatian coastal town, 11 kilometers northwest of Sibenik. Known as a modern touristic center and, especially, as a boat charter base in Croatia, Vodice has a beautifully preserved old town, full of historic buildings and sites attesting to its rich history.
The Sibenik Archipelago is close by and the sailing in this region is wonderful. Chartering a yacht from Vodice is an excellent choice for a sailing vacation, as it is a good as starting charter base for the many Dalmatian islands and the coastline. ACI Vodice Marina can be found here and attracts a number of boaters.
Vodice is well connected with the Croatian coastline and Croatian highway. Bus terminals and a Railway station are located in Sibenik, 11 kilometers away. Ferry lines from Italy are available through Zadar and Split. The closest international airport is at Zadar, located 60 kilometers from the center of Vodice. Split International Airport is about 85 kilometers away.
Sailing conditions are sublime with mild winds, sunny weather and minimal strong currents and tides. The prevailing winds are the friendly Maestral from the North West, the Bora from the North East, and Sirocco and Jugo winds from the South/South East. Care should be taken with the Bora as it can be gusty and sudden.
